Near Bordeaux, north of the Côtes de Bordeaux along the right bank of the Garonne and in the town of Yvrac, the area of Courrèges Cap de Fer with an area of five hectares, is planted with one hectare of Sémillon, half a hectare of Malbec and three and a half hectares of Merlot. At the top of the plateau, the terroir is limestone and clay-limestone. On the most chalky part, Sémillon, an old Bordeaux grape, gives its best expression, combining its natural smoothness with the minerality of the terroir. In the same way, the Merlot and Malbec grape varieties give grapes of bright fruit and full of vivacity. The measured grass cover allows deep rooting of the vines and therefore limits the water stress in summer. The short size is preferred to bring a nice concentration of the grapes. The harvest is manual, in crates for the whites.
